Nelson Appointed Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management

Mr. Nelson will provide leadership in the planning and budget process to improve and develop student and campus support services. He will serve as an advocate for enhancing student access to educational opportunities. He will be responsible for integrating student services functions with academic programs and for directing the regional enrollment management plan.
Mr. Nelson has been employed at UAS since 2004. He has served as Program Director for the Preparing Indigenous Teachers and Administrators for Alaska Schools (PITAAS), Associate Vice Provost, and most recently Dean of Enrollment Management. "Joe has done an outstanding job in all these positions," said Chancellor Pugh. "He has particularly provided leadership for our student success efforts."
Joe Nelson holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola School of Law in Los Angles and a Masters of Arts in American Indian Studies from the University of California Los Angeles. He is on the Sealaska Corporation Board of Directors and the board for his village corporation in Yakutat.
