Bronze whale project gets funding push | Juneau Empire - Alaska's Capital City Online Newspaper

Lots of people have been asking about the whale tale castings around town.  This article will explain a little bit more.  UAS' involvement was the intermediate whale "Spike" currently displayed in front of the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council until the campus redesign is complete, when he will be brought out for display here.

When a sculptor does a large scale sculpture, as the final whale will be for the downtown project, they most often create an intermediate design before going large scale.  As part of the larger campaign, UAS raised the funds and purchased the smaller version, which will adorn our campus soon.
